Join us as we partner with community organization, Orion Industries, to provide ready to eat and shelf stable food and snacks to those facing food insecurity. At Orion, they believe everyone should have the opportunity to work. They offer hope and create paths to employment through building esteem, mentoring, training, education, community services and successful businesses.
We are excited to partner with Orion through one of our valued clients, Diane Lyons. Diane shared the following about how she discovered Orion, and why she is so passionate about the work that they do.
I first learned about Orion at a time when our son was looking for his first job. I recalled how difficult it can be to get that first job and began to think of how much more difficult it must be for a neurodiverse kid like ours. The social stigma of IEPs and special education classes can make a person feel like they “can’t”, but I knew that he “could.” When I learned about a program that helps people like our son boost their self-esteem while giving them the skills to succeed in the workforce, I was hooked. I joined Orion in 2020 as Director of Development because I know there are other people who are worried about what the future holds for their child, grandchild, or friend who wants to work, but is routinely overlooked for opportunities. Orion provides training, work experience, and assistance to obtain a good job, no matter the obstacle standing in their way. Every day I get to be part of helping people recognize their potential and achieve their goals. Nothing can top the swell of pride and excitement in a person’s voice when they return from an interview and shout, “I got the JOB!”
