Deputy Mayor Jared Nieuwenhuis was elected to the Bellevue City Council in November 2017, and chosen as deputy mayor in January 2020. His focus is on neighborhoods and results-oriented local government. Jared represents the council on the King County Domestic Violence Initiative Regional Task Force. He is council liaison to the East Bellevue Community Council and Human Services Commission. Outside of his time on the council, he is an avid cyclist who enjoys riding through Bellevue’s neighborhoods and spending time at Downtown Park with his family.
